Rainbow Room - Insects Hunt
Children enthusiastically engaged in play with the insects found in the sand, eagerly observing and identifying various species. Their excitement peaked as they played with butterflies, spiders or bugs. We took the opportunity to discuss the distinctive characteristics of these insects such as...
Rainbow Room - Garden
Today, children from the Rainbow Room explored flowers, vegetables, and herbs in the garden. They were also engaged in observing different types of flowers and trees, focusing on their appearance and texture. The children enjoyed using garden tools, such as rakes, to tend to the soil. Some children...
Year 2 - Computing
To continue our coding topic, we wrote an algorithm for The Princess and The Frog. We made each character move, and used the collision detection again, this time to turn the frog into a prince! We also explored debugging an algorithm that had mistakes
Year 2 - Computing: Week 4
In week 4, we used all of our knowledge about binary questions to use a program to find out the names of our avatars. We had to answer questions carefully to get the right name! We also debugged a binary tree that had some errors!
Year 2 Spring 1 Week 1 computing
This week we began our new Computing topic, learning all about coding. We discussed what an algorithm is and took turns giving sets of instructions, being careful to be precise. We then used Purple Mash to create algorithms which made our planes take off from the run way. We also tried debugging an...
Gardening Afterschool Club
The gardening club began by introducing the important rules to children when it comes to using the school garden, for instance listening to each other, working in teams, being safe when using tools, taking respectful care of plants, fruits and vegetables etc so this was well followed by all the...
Computing Week 4
This week we used 2Question to follow a binary code in order to find out the names of each avatar. We carefully answered yes or no to each question to find the correct names. We then used our debugging skills to find the errors in a binary tree and fix them so that each step worked correctly
Year 2 - Coding Week 2
This week we started our coding topic! We had lots of fun trying to make planes take off from their runways and adding code blocks to detect any collisions. We had to think carefully about the algorithm we made and how we could debug if there were any problems!
Year 1 - Computing - Week 4
This week Year 1 have been using the mouse bots to practice giving precise instructions when they are coding. They thought about the route the mouse had to take in order to get to the cheese and avoid any obstacles in the way. They also had to debug the mouse if any of the instructions were wrong!
Coding Challenge
The Computing Team went to Sebright for a coding challenge. We made some incredible games and learned all about commands, loops and debugging. Watch this space to play our games soon

Nursery - Trees in the Garden
The tree in our nursery garden fascinates Daubeney children. The children are often observed using all their muscles to help them climb the tree. Children enjoy sitting in the tree, looking for bugs and collecting rainwater
Year 1 - Science in 1S
Last week, 1S ventured into the hop garden to investigate our topic: 'nature around us' We loved being outdoors, looking at (and listening to) all that was around us. We loved the tomato and raspberry plant, carefully observing that different stages of the growth cycle - we especially liked...
Year 1 - Science in the Hop Garden
Last week Year 1 visited the Hop Garden as part of our Science topic 'Nature All Around Us'. We looked for plants that were growing in our school environment and explored the bug hotels too! We then practised our sketching skills by drawing our favourite plant in the garden. We had lots of...
Art Time with Miss Patel - Humbug Illusions Pattern
As requested, here is the tutorial video on how to create the Humbug illusions pattern. Enjoy! Don't forget to sent your artwork to admin@daubeney.hackney.sch.uk so that we can feature your work in our virtual assembly
Reception - Yellow Class: Bug Hotels
As part of Climate Learning Week, the children in Yellow class learnt about bug hotels. They learnt that bug hotels are a multi-storey homemade habitat where creepy-crawlies of all shapes and sizes can find a place to stay. They collected various natural materials from home such as straw, wood and...
Year 5 - ecoACTIVE Bugs
Year 5M had an amazing activity today exploring the world of compost and the bugs responsible for helping to break down our food. They learnt aboutthe process and even got to hold worms, larvae, beetles, woodlouse and earwigs. A special thanks to ecoACTIVE team who came to Daubeney and allowed our...
Reception - Yellow Class Spooky Halloween
In Yellow Class for Halloween we had a spooky, fun day. We did lots of activities around Halloween.
