Gardening Afterschool Club

The gardening club began by introducing the important rules to children when it comes to using the school garden, for instance listening to each other, working in teams, being safe when using tools, taking respectful care of plants, fruits and vegetables etc so this was well followed by all the children who got involved. Children enjoyed watering our carrots and tomatoes by taking a " go" and they collected them in their teams by working together.

They noticed different insects in our garden such as snails and lavender bugs- we enjoyed speaking about them and why they visited our garden, so some children were brave to hold snails and bugs with lots of smiles. Then children were engaged in washing the vegetables so new words were introduced such as " bacteria" - we have spoken about it.

At the end, we all had a relaxing ending by enjoying ourselves by our pond spotting out flying butterflies and dragonflies.
