Year 5 Residential 2017 - Day 3
It's been another fantastic day on the residential!
We started the day with cereal, juice and a huge selection of pastries! We read out all the parents, families and friends comments whilst the children ate. The comments really helped the children get motivated for another fun filled day of adventure and discovery.
We also had some adult visitors from another school and the children gave some truly amazing and inspirational feedback about what they gain from their week long journey. Amongst the things they shared were tales of facing their fears, supporting their peers and becoming more mature and independent.
Celebrations were in full swing for Luca's birthday and the chefs prepared a special surprise pizza and chips lunch which went down a treat with the children.
This evening we are going to be enjoying a delicious homemade burger for dinner, some wide games and hot cocoa for supper.
It is my first experience with the children on residential and I have been truly humbled and astonished by their unflinching fear in the face of overwhelming and terrifying challenges. They have become familiar with their surroundings so quickly that by day two they were able to find their own way through the forest to the activity areas. As well as their inspirational resilience and bravery, they have also shown their kind and caring attributes through supporting their friends and keeping each other's spirits up through the hard times.
Looking forward to seeing what the next two days bring.
