It’s day 4 and you’d have thought the tiredness would have set in by now... well it has with the teachers. The children are just as energised as ever. They finished last night with wider games which incorporated orienteering with a quiz. Of course, Mr Swarbrick’s group emerged victorious with an outstanding 98 points. Miss Theresa was not happy. This morning the children woke to the smell of sizzling chicken sausages and hash browns and beans. They quickly got ready and made their way into the centre of the forest, a journey they are now as familiar with as their journey to school. The children have taken part in crate stacking, orienteering, climbing, rifle shooting and so many other activities. Once again they have defied the odds to overcome overwhelming obstacles. They have had to stay calm in testing situations and use their communication skills to ensure the successful completion of tasks and have had to listen carefully to specific instructions. Along with all the arranged activities it has been wonderful to see the children being so respectful to the surrounding nature and wildlife. They have really become accustom to their surroundings and learnt to navigate through the challenging terrain. It has also been surprising that none of the children have complained once about not having access to technology, iPads, games consoles or mobile phones. During our final activity of the day we were blessed with some guest visitors: Miss Thomas, Mr Logan and Mr Green! The children couldn’t wait to tell them about all of their adventures and all three of them were absolutely blown away by how challenging and terrifying some of the activities were. As our final full day draws to a close, the children will face their biggest challenge so far... cleaning their rooms and packing their bags. There wasn’t enough rooms for all the girls.
