Having taken a week’s break from history due to RE Day, we spent the beginning of this lesson recapping our learning from when we went to the Museum of London Docklands and what we learnt about how World War II impacted the East End. After that, we reminded ourselves of the Allies and Axis Powers. We then had a discussion about whether we thought Britain fought alone. We found out that because of the British Empire, Britain was able to call on all their colonies around the world to support them in fighting. In small groups, we spent some time researching one of the 8 groups of people who helped during WWII. Finally, we wrote a letter thanking them for their efforts and we used the facts we had discovered to support our letter.
