As part of a series of cross curricular lessons, year 5 have explored the famous Catalan architect Antonio Gaudi’s life and work, and created their own artwork inspired by the architect. Trencadís is an artistic method popularised by Gaudi. It is a mosaic-like effect, achieved by cementing together random shards and pieces of broken chinaware, piece by piece like a jigsaw. If you have visited Barcelona before, you will certainly have seen it around you in the streets, in buildings, in parks, in souvenir shops … It can also now be seen at Daubeney school!
