Today (14th January 2019) was the starting point for the Year 5 long burst genre, Balanced Arguments. The children began with a ‘COLD TASK’, writing a balanced argument with limited input. The idea of the cold task is to assess prior knowledge and then teachers will plan accordingly in order to best support the children when we create and write our own balanced arguments. At home, children should be encouraged to research balance arguments and have this discussion with family members, what makes a good balanced argument? What are the features of a balanced argument? How can I improve my balance argument?
