Year 3 have been learning all about the Prehistoric World, and in particular from the Stone Age to the Iron Age. They discovered that even though there are no written documents left about this period of time, there are plenty of clues that tell us what their life was like. One of these clues is Stonehenge. They enjoyed puzzling over why those enormous rocks are where they are and-a more puzzling matter-how they got them there without using lorries and cranes! They concluded that the Stone Age people must have been very clever engineers to work out different ways to move those heavy stones. We made a much less heavy version out of biscuits today! We also made Prehistoric homes- from the rock caves and animal skin tents of the Stone Age to the more advanced hillforts of the Iron Age. The children are now very excited to find out why the Iron Age ended and who came next. Watch this space!
