As part of Year 3’s topic on Pirates, they went on aboard the legendary sailing ship, at the Cutty Sark Greenwich. The Cutty Sark is the world’s sole surviving tea clipper, the fastest ship of her time. They were taken back in time during 1869, where the Captain told them about the life of people who worked in the ship. The children were taken on a tour inside the ship to see how the Captain and the crew members lived. Did you know that the Captain slept at the back of the ship and the crew slept at the front of the ship?
Year 3 had lots of fun exploring the ship too. They played an interactive game to steer the boat in the right direction to collect goods. They also watched a movie clip of the history of the Cutty Sark. Year 3 ended the day visiting the National Maritime Museum too, where they played more fun games and dressed up like pirates.
