Year 3 - RE Day: Buddhism

Year 3 explored the beliefs and practices of Buddhism on RE day. They meditated, made Buddhist prayer flags with their own special messages and engaged with the story of Buddha. This resulted in some interesting discussions, such as whether it is better to life an enlightened life, although this involves knowledge of illness and death, or to remain blissfully ignorant, like Buddha before he left his palace.

Tarjhenae 3p - When we were meditating, I was starting to get ready to sleep and when I woke up, I felt like I was levitating!

Hussein 3p - When I meditated, I feel asleep and when I woke up, my eyes started to hurt but I felt really good and ready to learn, we should do this more often!

Nicole 3P - When we meditated, I felt like I wanted to sleep and when I woke up, then I felt really relaxed and calm.

Elliot 3p - We meditated for 15 minutes and it made me feel very calm and weird but I really enyoyed it.

Amina 3p - I really liked making the pictures because it was all interesting to do.

Ayman 3p - I really enjoyed making the flags.

Nicholas 3P - It was fascinating learning about a religion that I didn't know much about. One thing I learned was that Buddhists really treasure meditation.

Lexi 3T - I think the buddha shouldn't have left the palace because he left his wife and then she got sick. She should have gone outside also. I think he should always stay in the palace to take care of other people if they are sick.

Gaspar 3T - I think knowledge is best because if you ignore the sadness then you don't know what to do.

Faaris 3T - I really liked making the flags. My one flag was about me and my mum and my brothers
