Year 3 investigated the properties of soil before making mini compost bins. Everyone was surprised that soil is more than just dirt. Amira commented, 'soil has a lot of minerals in it- over 47%!' David added, 'soil is important because it helps plants to grow and we need plants to eat and live. Compost will provide more nutrients for the plants, especially if there are worms in it.' The children were keen to make their own mini compost bins at home too!

Izabela 3t - It was really fun doing this activity I think I will make my own compost at home.
Aland 3T - It was soooo fun doing this because the way we did the steps, it gave me more ideas and maybe I can make my own.
Gabriel 3T - i will make my own compost at home. I will have about 73 worms.
Elias 3T - The worm was so funny in my soil. It tried to climb out the pot and then it just went near the pear and was eating it.
