Take a look at what Year 3 have been getting up to in their Maths and Literacy lessons this week:
In one of their Literacy lessons, Year 3 got to know the story of The Gingerbread Man in preparation for a writing task later this week. In groups, they created freeze frames of different scenes from the story, stating how they felt or what they were thinking in character. Afterwards, we hot-seated the gingerbread man, asking him questions we wanted to know, such as “Why did you want to run away?” Our gingerbread men who had a turn in the hot seat did a good job of answering the questions creatively!
In Maths, they played a place value game with their partners. One partner placed the dienes counters into the hundreds, tens and ones columns (and in some cases, the thousands column!) and their partner had to identify and write down the number and vice versa. They then challenged each other by asking questions such as, “What is the value of the hundreds in this number?”
Year 3 have got off to a very promising start; watch this space to see more of their brilliant learning.
