Over the next two weeks in literacy, we will be learning about how to write an excellent informal letter. Today, we read a book called “The Day the Crayons Quit”. It is about a boy, called Duncan, and how his crayons quit and left him because they were not happy with how he was treating them. We played a game to help us think about how Duncan should be feeling called Conscience Alley. We split our class into two and took turns whispering reasons why or why not Duncan should feel bad about what has happened. Here are some of our reasons:
“Yes, Duncan should feel bad because the crayons treated him very well but he didn’t treat them well”
“No, Duncan shouldn’t feel bad because they are just crayons! They aren’t even real people!”
Do you have any thoughts about how Duncan should be feeling? Let us know in the comments!
