Junior Literacy Team Meet SLT

On Thursday 7th March, the Junior Literacy Team were invited to meet with Mr Logan, Mr Dharma, Ms Lucey, Ms Gustave, Ms Bibi, Ms Corpe and Ms Cenac (Senior Leadership Team). We discussed ways to encourage reading and writing throughout the school – even in Nursery! It was a great opportunity to express our ideas and show how our role’s have an impact at Daubeney. We talked about creating a reading shed for both the KS1 and 2 playgrounds so that children can read books at playtime. Nile suggested reading challenges and the team also suggested a book recommendation box! What ideas do you like? If you have an idea you can comment below, speak to the Junior Literacy or Miss Fergus. Happy reading!

Miss Fergus - I was so proud of my Junior Literacy Team! They had lots of amazing ideas and expressed them so confidently. Well done team!

Mr Dharma - What an absolute pleasure it was to meet with such an amazing team. You were all so eloquent and inspiring when sharing your brilliant ideas. Keep up the excellent work. I look forward to hearing about your thoughts and discussions about audio books.

Mum from 3G - Great work team! Readers are leaders! It’s not too late to join the 200 million minutes reading challenge. Just google it and join in so we can try to win books for school :)

Mr Logan - It was an absolute pleasure to meet with the Junior Literacy Team and to hear how enthused they are to raise the profile of literacy here at Daubeney.
Please keep up the wonderful work and I look forward to some of your great ideas e.g. a book swap day coming to reality.
Stay great!

Aoife 5M - Having the meeting was really fun and scary I really enjoyed helping promote literacy around the school
