For the second year running, Daubeney has decided to take part in the WOW walk to school challenge!
WOW is a pupil-led initiative where children self-report how they come to school everyday. If they travel sustainably (walk, cycle, scoot, hop off the bus early and walk the rest of the way) a few times a week, they get rewarded with a badge!
What are the benefits of walking to school?
Walking to school helps children feel happier and healthier and they arrive refreshed, fit and ready to learn. More families walking/travelling sustainably, means fewer cars on the road during the school run, helping to reduce congestion and pollution at the school gates.
Did you know?
The WOW badges are made using excess yoghurt-pot material previously destined for landfill and are produced in the UK, minimising our carbon footprint.
We’re really excited about running WOW and walking to school this year. Our pupils are looking forward to collecting the badges and experiencing the natural world around them in the morning before class. We also hope it will ease traffic outside the school gates and teach pupils vital road safety skills.
